Andrei Kuzmenko Switches Jersey Number to Honor Late Father
Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andrei Kuzmenko is changing his jersey number to 62 to honor his father, who recently died in Russia.
Elmira, NY, October 2, 2026 — Pittsburgh Penguins forward Andrei Kuzmenko will be switching his jersey number for the upcoming season. The change is being made to honor his father, who recently passed away in Russia. Kuzmenko will adopt the number 62, a number chosen to commemorate his father.
The decision to change his jersey number comes after a significant personal loss for the player. His father’s recent death in Russia has prompted Kuzmenko to adopt a number that holds personal meaning and serves as a tribute.
Kuzmenko, who joined the Pittsburgh Penguins, previously wore a different number during his tenure with the team. The specific number he wore prior to this change was not immediately specified.
The NHL season schedule or the exact date of Kuzmenko’s first game wearing number 6 has not yet been detailed in this report.
